Would you like to invent a new product or start your own company? 

In MAE154 you will develop your own product concepts along with addressing business viability. At the end of the class each team will present their products to an outside panel. Students can own patent rights to their ideas and have indeed started companies following the class. The UCSD Office of Commercialization and Innovation, has been supportive of this class and can answer specific questions about patent ownership.

Company started as MAE 154 project: Hush Technologies, raised $593K in Kickstarter, won a Most Innovative Product Award, and was ultimately acquired by Bose.
